Discover Italy 3: Tuscany and Central Italy
We continue our Italian discovery deep into the heart of Italy, where the most recognised region lies, Tuscany. Here we find the famous Sangiovese grape, the leading variety that has a major part to play in all the reds from this zone such as: Chianti, Vino Nobile di Montepulciano, Brunello and the hot-topical 'Supertuscans.' In addition we find the refreshing Vernaccia and in nearby Lazio, Frascati as well as Orvieto in Umbria. This brings us to the question: are modern Supertuscan reds a better purchase than the traditional Sangiovese-led wines of Tuscany? Only a tasting can decide...
This tasting is designed to explore the diverse variety of wines available from Italy produced from their fascinating indigenous grape varieties most of which are only found within Italy.
Big wine to look forward to: Brunello di Montalcino DOCG (& Chianti Classico DOCG)
All tastings include a minimum of 6 wines, full tasting notes, use of professional glasses and lots of Italian nibbles relevant to the destination of the evening!
